Paradise was
never a place.
It was a feeling.
Travel draws me out of the everyday and into the moment. These are my stories of the places, encounters and experiences that stay with me.

A little about me
I’m Ramona, a Canadian-born Sri Lankan who’s been travelling since I was about two years old. Growing up, frequent trips to Sri Lanka to visit family made travel part of my life long before I understood how much it would mean to me.

Even after visiting 44 countries, there’s a moment I always look forward to: stepping off the plane and feeling the air against my skin. The unfamiliar smells, the sounds, the feeling of being somewhere entirely new. It’s like stepping into a film I’ve only ever watched from afar, and suddenly, I’m in it.
That feeling is what keeps me travelling. I love discovering how different life can be somewhere else, and how different I can feel within it. A place can bring out a curiosity, a confidence or a sense of wonder I didn’t even realise I’d been missing.
Beyond Her Border is where I share those experiences through my photographs and stories. I know that travelling isn’t possible for everyone, and I hope this space offers a chance to see a little more of the world through my eyes, to feel connected to people somewhere unfamiliar, discover something unexpected, or find inspiration for a journey of your own.
